10 Best Places to Walk Your Dog in the Triad

Ah walking the dog… This is the most common activity that people do with their dogs. (And sometimes the most dreaded! That is for another blog entry. Haha.) Our geriatric crew isn’t too keen on long walks nowadays, but I spend a good part of my day walking and training other peoples pups. Because of this, I have seen and experienced a lot of fun and beautiful places to walk in the Triad and wanted to share those with you!

10.) Country Park

This park is an under appreciated gem. Several different trails to choose from, and the view of the loop around the lake is beautiful.

9.) Fourth of July Park

I am so happy to be able to put a Kernersville spot on this list! This park is close to downtown K-ville and has a few walking trails you can explore with your pooch. They also host large events here, especially around Independence Day. (Hence the name!) So I would recommend leaving the pets at home for the fireworks displays!

8.) Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

This park has a few different routes and all have mature tree growth. These older trees provide a shady and more secluded walking experience that I really enjoy. Bonus points for the statues.

7.) Salem Lake Trail

This is a very popular trail that wraps around Salem Lake. The views are absolutely stunning and offer many excellent photo opportunities along your stroll.

6.) Atlantic and Yadkin Greenway Trail

Another lake! More pretty landscapes! This system is also usable for all skill levels and stays open year round. Really, what else do you need?

5.) Greensboro Science Center

There is something really relaxing about the paths here. Several trail options, and a pond complete with geese and swans. Excellent option for families and a nice place to do some training with your dog too.

4.) Midway Town Park

I did not know this place existed until a client told me! Now it is one of my favorites. This park has a few trail options, and they are all pretty easy walks. Bonus that they can be done in a variety of combinations so you can enjoy the pleasant scenery. This is my favorite place to walk and let my mind wander since it is paved and flat the whole way.

3.) Old Salem Road Strollway

Two words: covered bridge. The Old Salem Wooden Bridge is so charming, especially around the holidays. I am a sucker for history and scenery, and this walking route combines them both in a really fun way. Enjoy a brisk stroll through Old Salem with your dog. You won’t regret it!

2.) Bicentennial Greenway

This greenway is a string of trails that connects Greensboro to High Point. It boasts a number of trails of varying lengths and difficulties and terrain types. These trails also have a lot of points where you can enter and exit between the two cities, meaning you can have different walking experiences every time. They are all fun to do and are very visually appealing!

1.) Greensboro Arboretum

My favorite! I love the flowers and the different loops you can take to change your course. There are usually people and other dogs here, making it an excellent place for training or socializing your dog. I also really like that it has a parking lot across the street which makes utilizing this space much less stressful.

What do you think? Did I miss your favorite trails? Tell me about them!
